Berlin-> Dublin -> Galway

Hallo,
So last time i posted we had gone to see the outdoor cinema. From there we left from Berlin to Dublin. We were scared since it was such a stressful time coming over from Dublin to Berlin with the weight restrictions of our bags, but on our way back it was actually a humourous affair. The lady who checked my baggage LOVED my leopard-print jacket and wanted it. Then after she saw my bag of chocolate and I was like "om nom nom" and she was like "lecker lecker lecker" which is "tasty" or "yumyum" in german.

Then we made it to Dublin, and after some help from the very nice airport people we ended up at the right bus station. We got on the bus and were all ready for the 2 hour bus ride, naturally my ipod died right when we got on. Two hours went by, where are still driving, 3 hours went by, we're still driving. The most disturbing part was I would see signs to Galway, and the bus would turn away from them. Anyways, we left the airport at 7:30 and arrived in Galway at 11:30! I was impressed that I went that far on a bus for only 10 euros!

When we arrived in Galway it was insanely busy, because there is the Galway races. This morning they all had on their royal british hats and are in their sunday bests. Right now we're just painting our nails and enjoying the luxeries of non hostel accomodations. Tonight Dori and I are going to cook a nice dinner.

talk to you soon!

polaroids, pergamon and pilsner

hello!

today we went to the c/o gallery for the polaroid exhibit. it was really cool, and typical berlin way the building was half of the experience. it was a post office and then got bombed out through out world war 2. so there was a section discussing the process of rebuilding the building. funny because one of the exhibits is in a basketball court that was made for the postal workers.

after that we split up since dori wanted to go see a ww2 museum, and i didnt want to be depressed for the rest of the day. at first i went to the national gallery and just looked at the first floor for half an hour and then left to go to the pergamon museum. it was really neat! all ancient history and remains, with one section dedicated to refinding these rarities post bombing in ww2 again. there was some really interesting peices from mesopotamia and ancient prayer areas.

we are going to go to the outdoor cinema again tonight since it is finally nice out! we leave berlin tomorrow at 4

sun shine

guten nacht!

greetings from your slumbering friend over in germany! today i awoke at 4pm!! not surprising since we came home at 6am, and we were one of the first people to leave the club! we were initially going to go to madame claudes, an old brothel remade into a bar where everything is upside down but because we lack a map we couldn't find it. then we came across a club which my friends had suggested i go to but never got around to, so we went! have no idea what it was callled but it was a lot of fun. dori and i were minicelebrities because we knew every word to every song and had people bowing down to us... literally. hahaha.

on our way there the subway station had a minimart which decided it wanted to become a club too so it set up speakers and there was a dance party going on there. only in berlin.

today we went for indian food and to look at the wall. then we went and saw the kings speech in the outdoor cinema... it was a lot diffierent seeing a movie about the war in the actual setting.

anyways, i go to sleep so we can go to mauerpark tomorrow and then to the zoo!

self proclaimed eurobeer tour!

greetings! for some reason i am forbidden from using caplocks when i blog via blackberry so forgive me. i am currently in berlin at my favourite internet cafe st oberhof drinking cappucinos and trying my hardest to be as cool as everyone surrounding me, blogging about their cool days on their macbooks or create sick beats on their macbooks while wearing sunglasses indoors while it is raining.
i arrived in dublin two days ago, and while i enjoyed seeing dori i was not that big of a fan of the city... although the lack of sunlight and grey overhang could very well have clouded my judgement but i found it very difficult to find anything that wasn't touristy and supper expensive. the first night we found this cool bar just off the main strip of temple bar (famous area inwhich i know nothing about), called the garage bar. at first i thought it was garbage bar, which would make a lot more sense since there were woodchips just like at a landfill. they played old horror films and really good music. the next day we went to the guinness brew factory, which has been there since the 18th or 17th century what was unique about the plot of land was that arthur guinness signed the lease for a thousand years, which was the longest lease in history at the time... and may be even to date. we learned important things like hops make the beer bitter and barley makes it sweet. when we were leaving the tour we could smell the barley being roasted, which is what gives the guinness that meaty flavour. with the tour we got a complimentary pint of guinness and we learned how to pour the perfect pint i find it weird how you have to let the beer sit to let the gases settle properly and then top it off with beer from the keg by pushing the handle back instead of forward so that that beer has no gas, why not just fill it up to right amount?

that night we went out to the worlds most expensive tea shop ( anywhere from 6-12 euros a cup not even a pot of tea!) and got shisha and played boardgames.

anyways i must depart my hipster haven cage and return to my sleeping travelling amigos. i'm so happy to be back in the land of berlin where their papertowel has advertisements and their subway doors need you to open them!
